I eventually went with RACQ,better all round,not necessarily price.

yes you need to check your insurance value carefully for everything now days. agreed value is what they agree to and unless stated in writing can be a lot lower than expected. RACV tried to give me a value 10k lower than I wanted on a near new ford ranger. IO then reminded them that they have a new for old under two years old and the policy was cheaper and the value went up.

RACQi are good but they are not good for older vehicles that have been improved over time where the replacement value (unique vehicle generally speaking) is far higher than second hand stocker. Shannons are very good at true agreed value (ie not 'agreed value' or market value whichever is the lower...). Cheers

Ps. Last time I looked RACQi didn't cover pest (rat or Jack Russel chasing rat damage for example...glad I had swapped to Shannons after 20 years with RACQi there) but Shannons do. Can be a very expensive lesson if with RACQ when a big fat rat gives it to your pride and joy.

Seems I may need to swap insurer. I once had an agreed value with Budget, they would only go as high as 39k for my 2013 90.
They would revert to market value (approx. 30k) each year at renewal unless I checked and reinstated the agreed value.
Not sure what market value is now but I'd prefer agreed where I know what to expect.

Hmm,well, been there done that it was a mouse,anyway,luckily only minor damage.Ripped up some of the insulation on the firewall as well.
They seem to like Toyota wiring for some reason,apparenty its environmentally friendly....
The old D4 they were not interested in,but i did find their scats under the bonnet at times.

For those that want to know,i sprayed Tectyl on all the wiring and conduit,in the last twelve months they have been back,but not for a chew.
I also leave baits(the ones that dont secondary poison),under the vehicle all the times,and a live trap.
Vehicle is parked outside under carport.
I can't use break back traps as we have lots of possums around.

They actually also chewed the yellow cover on the Traxide unit.

Mice are not too bad mate. Big rats are not great. My little Jack Russell Terrier knew a rat was in the engine bay of the D2...of you know JRT's you know they are the most insane and driven hunters around. The level of determination and staying power js crazy. Anyway the dog chewed right through stainless braided brake line, ABS harness, main engine harness....and thereby completely disabled the vehicle. But guess what...he got his rat . Got it on top of the chassis rail. Shannons funded new harnesses and brake lines. Not a cheap exercise. Cheers
