300Tdi Defender AC Condensors are readily available

This may be common knowledge, but I was surprised to learn that the Australian type AC condenser for the 300Tdi Defender are still available from REPCO of all places. It's a genuine Sanden, identical to the original and arrived at my local store the next day for $351.

This is LR part no. HYM617 / REPCO SKU: A9331468

REPCO website - Sanden AC Condenser A9331468

The Australian air-conditioning system was of course just cobbled together from generic components, but nonetheless these trucks are getting on to 30 years old now, so it's nice to know that items like this outside of the Land Rover parts chain are still on the shelf.

As an aside, I hadn't heard of a MIOR connection before (haven't spent much time playing with HVAC stuff) but turns out that it stands for "Male Insert O-Ring".
    #8 is 3/4" x 16 TPI
    #6 is 5/8" x 18 TPI

Thought this might be useful to someone. Thanks to Tony at Karcraft for the heads up.

hmm, I wonder if this would fit my early TD5 defender? The condenser on mine is between the rad and intercooler, not out front with a fan like is shown on every photo or reference I can find online. The condenser everyone wants to sell me has a frame and fan but that couldn't fit on my car, plus its about $1500.

Does anyone have the same configuration as me and know the part number for the condenser? Mine doesn't have the 'extended grill' or whatever it's called, the plastic louvres sit slightly forward but the metal frame is flush with the front guards.

    Cheers,

    Adam

    Sounds odd...
*How does the condenser fit between the radiator and the intercooler? its a tiny space between them.
*TD5 condenser and fan assembly is the same as last model 2007 - 2016 Defenders.
*It sound like a/c has been added to a non a/c model to me.
*Or the original condenser has failed and someone has made something else to fit.

Its the way the car has been since I've owned it (12yrs) and the PO wasn't a big one for mods so I think its how it came out of the dealer. Wouldn't surprise me if they were bolting up the last of 300TDI kits to the early TD5s. The only thing that has been changed in the front of the car is a later model intercooler because they couldn't get the correct one for my car and this one was cheaper.

Going to British Off Road in the morning to pick up some parts so I'll ask those dudes about it.

    ahhhh haaaaa...

    Look and ye shall find...

*At first it looked like a custom job.
*Its not a 300tdi as the condenser triangle bits fit into the plastic mount slots on the radiator normally for an optional gearbox cooler (like a disco 2 TD5 has).

*Your condenser part number is HYM1152
HYM1152 - Land Rover Condenser | Jaguar Land Rover Classic Parts

    but doesnt seem available anywhere.
Its not the "common" TD5 condenser which is the one with the frame and fan assembly

HYM617 is also still listed as a part from Land Rover but alas is also not available, so this is good info

Yeah, searching this site is something that gives me brain cancer every time. Sometimes easier to just ask the question...

Thanks for the info, I get the feeling I'll just buy something that can be got over the counter for a reasonable price and mod the pipework to make it fit.

    Plumbing for 300tdi aircon

    Hi guys.
I am after somewhere in Melbourne where I can get a pipe made up for the aircon on my 97 300tdi Defender.
The pipe I need runs from the receiver dryer to the condenser.
    It is in two parts.
I am after somewhere that can custom make a new pipe as there is no replacement part for this item.
    Any help would be appreciated.
