Thread: Fitting late model (post 2010) doors to 2000 Defender

*There is at least one kit for the TD5 to convert the windup windows to electric.
*Obviously the TD5 in a 110 had the electric window option as well.
*For customers Ive simply ordered the somewhat expensive but excellent quality doors from SP in the U.K
*Might be a case of good luck finding some Defender doors used at a reasonable price.
*Defender doors and Defender seats from Tdci (2007 - 2016) are a very rare items, it generally takes me at least 6 months to source a set used at a good price.
*The late model TD5 doors are the same as the TDCi, as in steel frame and steel clad (roughly round late 2004 - 2006)
*If you dont know, the early steel frame and alloy clad have mitred corners on the frame, the later steel steel ones have round corners on the frames.

P.S oh the central locking, I don't know, hopefully someone else does

yeah pricing up the SP doors they're actually cheaper even with the freight and import costs than NOS doors, if you can get them. Plus they seem to be better anyway and now they make the build-up kit so you don't have to strip them apart to paint them. I'm leaning this way but just want to cover my bases in case some good used ones are significantly cheaper.

Does the mitred corner affect anything about the doors fitting?

No, but just to clarify, you want round corner frames, which makes fitting the later bottom door seals easier.

Although I fit the later bottom door seals to any Defender door when doing seals etc.

ah right, yeah I converted my doors to the later seals a while ago, they fit ok but not perfect. Makes sense knowing the corners are rounded.
