    Question LOF Clutch Failures?

Just had a mate of mine ring me to tell me that his issues that the Mechanic thought was Gearbox related (MT82) turned out to the newly installed (5000kms ago) LOF Clutch Plate. Apparently there's quite a bit of movement in the plate itself. My mate then rang his local mobile independant LR mechanic who also confirmed that he too has come across some issues with LOF Clutches.

Anyone else on here had any issues with ther LOF Clutches before?

He is now looking at installing a NPC Performance Clutch into his 2011 130 DualCab Defender... Quite expensive at $2k but that also includes a new Flywheel; Press Plate; Clutch Plate; Hydraulics

What clutches have people been installing into their Defender Pumas?

Yeah OK, my mate installed the one below that (the Touring version one) as he was told that the extreme one would give him a heavy clutch... Is your Clutch heavy to push down or is it a light clutch?

I have no idea, all clutches are easy. I have a RedBooster clutch servo fitted. The clutch pedal falls to the floor.

It's a bull**** statement when people say if you install a heavy duty clutch on a Defender TDCi (2007 - 2016) that it will have a heavy pedal.

As the clutch is a concentric clutch (see it as a full hydraulic clutch) there is no clutch fork or release arm, the hydraulics are doing all the work.

I have used dozens of clutch brands in the Defender TDCi and the two best were the LOF and the ClutchFix with no issues. Perhaps its a one of failure or user abuse.

Thanks for the heads up Dazza...

My mate certainly has not abused it as he hasn't even had a chance to take it off road, it's been all bitumen roads. Maybe it's just one of those incidents that he got a dodgy one...

Good to know that the Extreme LOF and ClutchFix are both good options...
