They are not factory, so any answer from the forum is just a guess at best. You need to trace the cables to the load.

Can someone tell me what the fuses and relays in the battery box of my 196 Defender 130 might be for. I have worked out that some of it has to do with the air conditioning but without ripping things apart I was wondering what the rest of it might be for. It's just a general question as everything seems to be working OK - at the moment.
Thanks in advance.

Most of it is the Aus fitted AC.
The Narva relay on the right, and maybe the circuit braker on the , left, I don't think is part of the AC
Mine is a mirror image of yours.
My understanding is the the AC was an Australian spec setup, that I assume was fitted by dealers and the install is a bit different car to car.
Here is mine.
The circuit breaker and solenoid on the left are not part of the AC.

Thanks Tony. Yes - it all makes sense now - except for the additional relay on the right.
I have just found a copy of some circuitry that has been floating around on the interweb for a while that matches the setup - so I'll use that to trace and check everything. There are two wires connected to the battery that will fire everything up when the ignition is off but the system does not work when the ignition is on - so I suspect a relay is being uncooperative.
