    Question 85 110 V8 CPR needed

    Hi All

    I've got a long-neglected 85 110 V8 ute that's in need of some TLC.
The old girl is straight gas, and currently not running - though was (with some start ye bastard) up until last year.
I'm hoping to get rid of the gas and get her back on the road.

I'm not particularly mechanically minded (why do I have an old LR you ask?) so I've contacted gas specialists and LR specialists in the area, and I'm getting the fob off at every avenue.

So I guess my question is - Any suggestions for reputable mobs around me that I should reach out to?
    I'm in Kilsyth South, VIC.

    Cheers, thanks for reading.

    Hi Smirk,

Firstly why is it not running are there underlying issues with the motor, or are the issues with the gas?

How much of the petrol gear is still in the 110?
Fuel tank, lines, pump, filters, carburettors/fuel injection, inlet manifold, emissions gear.

Is the motor standard? Or was it built as a straight gas motor, if so getting it to run on petrol may be problematic.

If it’s missing all the petrol gear, I would think having it converted back to petrol would be expensive, if you want a workshop to source and fit all the missing parts.

It's a long time since I lived in Melbourne's eastern suburbs, but Ritter's and AMV are the two independent LR workshops that spring to mind.

    Tony

    Thanks for the info @TonyC

    the motor was running OK.
The gas primer went, then later it turns over and won't start - as though gas isn't getting to the manifold?

Looks like a swap from an 87 RR (given the auto box) - No tank, lines etc. wiring harness looks like having been cut out in situ, leaving injectors behind..

I'm ok with sourcing some bits myself, but also spending a few bucks..

I'll get in touch with the below, they're not too far from me!

    Thanks again

Your best bet would be to swap it back to a carby engine as fitting and making the EFI gear work will be costly.

Post up a few pics of the gas setup as i have done a couple of LPG conversions to my previous early Range Rovers.

It might be simple to get the LPG working as they are usually a basic system if not the injected type.

I had a similar system on my old range, sometimes I'd get an airlock in the heater hose and the converter would freeze.
I'd start it with my foot flat to the floor so that the vacuum would draw the gas in.

I'm not sure how much you're willing to spend on it and how much you wish to become a self taught Landy mechanic, but I know where there is a Series III Stage I with 3.9l Isuzu motor, plus all the running gear and a nice Aluminium canopy which you could make an offer on. It's owned by a friend and I think he's after about $3000 ono. The chassis & firewall has significant rust however ...........
If your chassis, firewall & body are in good condition it would make a nice engine swap, give you some spare running gear and you'd end up with a sought after Isuzu Diesel Landy.
And you could probably sell some of the running gear to recoup some of your costs.

Anyway, just a thought to get you away from a problematic V8.

Appreciate the (very tempting) offer mate - but it's definitely outside my (very limited) skillset..
I'd be the sucker that bought the thing and then tried to get both going so I could have one of each! haha
