Defender SIDE MIRROR Differences bet Tdi300 & Pumas?

    Guys...
After some info on differences between the side mirrors of the PUMA version Defenders and the TDi300 Defenders?

I'm having an issue with my insurance company telling me that there is no difference between the mirrors on ALL Defenders sold here in Australia but from my research, I don't believe that is the case. The mirrors on my old Tdi300 are different to those on my Puma Defender...
Can anyone give me the various part numbers for the different mirrors?

They look the same to me?

Have you got a pic of the ones on your 300?

There are aftermarket mirrors that are a bit different, and it is possible that these are confusing the issue - either the ones you are familiar with on your Tdi 300 are these and the insurance company is trying to supply genuine, or vice versa. As far as i am aware, they are all interchangeable.

Your insurance company is wrong, wrong and wrong... fancy that. (omg. i so love these questions)

It's a Defender... you need a real mechanic... or at the very least a rivet counter.

MTC5083 Wing Mirror Arm All Defenders

MUC3708 Mirror Head LEFT HAND old original style (110, 110 county, most Defenders, Perentie)
MUC3707 Mirror Head RIGHT HAND old original style (110, 110 county, most Defenders, Perentie)

MTC5084 CONVEX Mirror Head later Defender TDCi (puma aprox 2011/12 - 2016)

ALR4626 FLAT Mirror Head later Defender TDCi (puma aprox 2011/12 - 2016) <==== not seen these in Australian models

see attached pics, the big one is the old style, the smaller one is the later style. (they are also cheaper to buy)

    Thanks Dazza...

That's what I was thinking when the repairers told me that they had spoken Landrover Australia and that they said that ALL Defenders had the same mirrors here in Australia (ie: the old Style) I knew that was a load of rubbish but I was sick of arguing with them and decided to sort it out myself. I do plan just to buy the latest mirror head and fit it myself.

BTW: The mirror they fitted - the head is too loose that it moves/changes positions at speed. I've tried tightening the adjusting screw under the mirror head but it is at its tightest and yet the head still moves... Any suggestions on how to prevent these larger mirrors from not moving when driving at speed?

Its sound like its a cheap replica, the thread can also strip off them.
Genuine OR Britpart are both fine as they are made in Taiwan
You could try carefully removing the head and give the bracket a bit of a beating and scuff up the inside of the cup

I actually prefer the later style as ya sort of see more.
Except on a Perentie as the mirror is physically smaller the square inside part of the door cuts off some of the vision.

Panel repair shops dont know anything about Defenders
Also on my notes I have 2011/12 for the newer style MTC but I actually think its around 2009 / 2010, so there is a small window where the older style was used.
