Its another hodge bodge tack it on Defender thing.

Had an issue obtaining a pink slip from our mechanic yesterday due to ‘ABS light remaining on after ignition/start up’
I explained to the mechanic that the light remains on until 7km/h then goes off, this is a factory standard LR function and that it has always been the case since new and has been the same on all Defenders I’ve had fitted with ABS.
He flatly said, ‘it’s a fail, I’m not passing it. Take it somewhere else if you don’t like it!’
There are 2 mechanics in this local business that I’ve taken our cars to for the past 10 years or so and I’ve always dealt with the other guy, (purely by chance) so other than saying Gday to this bloke, I’ve not had dealings with him.
I generally do minor services on our cars but my wife’s Subaru goes to these guys for pink slips, whatever I can’t do/don’t have time for as they’re local and convenient to shops etc.
My Defender generally goes to them for pink slips but I take her to Greg at Get It Automotive, who is great and very knowledgeable with LR’s, for the bigger jobs.
I would use Greg for all mechanical on both cars if we lived closer.
To be fair, yesterday was Melbourne Cup Day (I honestly had no idea of that til afterwards, no mention was made of it when I booked the day before, nor when I arrived) but I can only think that my bringing the car in at lunch time, caused time pressure on the bloke - at the end of 1/2hr I was there they shut shop and headed to the pub for the race.
I have no issue with that at all.
I emailed them the pages from the LR manuals, screenshot of nanocom showing nil faults and reminded him that they’d carried out the blue slips/pink slips for my Defenders & passed them all, never mentioning the ABS lamp in the past.
In reply to my email I got this copy of the Rules For Authorised Inspection Stations 2005 RWT - Safety Check Standards.’ (2005 seems a little old, given my 110 is an ‘06?)

No other comments or text and I can’t seem to obtain the whole document as I’m not a licensed inspector.
I’m a tradesman and I’ve reacted strongly on a few occasions when under pressure but I’ve always apologised and made good; this bloke doesn’t seem to care for that though.
If he’d said they were going early for Cup Day, bring it back tomorrow, I’d have been fine with that but to make up an excuse and stick to it????
So, before I burn my bridges (and this business):
Anyone else had this issue w ABS light and rego in nsw?
Anyone send me a link to the whole inspection document?

A regulation or standard with a year date to it has nothing to do with the year of your motor vehicle.
its when the standard or reg was made or revised.

If your state is like W.A then taking the vehicle to another authorised inspector may not resolve the issue as it will be on record that it failed inspection.
it may work, I had a similar one a few years ago...
A Defender about a 2008, did not have factory fitted optional front mudflaps.
It had failed as (para phrasing) one of the ADR standards states the vehicle guard, panel or mudflap must cover down to half way of the tyre, so technically the inspector was correct.
Thats when it came to me, i actually picked a few other items then took it to the inspector I use (whom actually hates Land Rovers) and he passed it.

I rang around last week and after 5 attempts, found a workshop that could book me in for roadworthy.
Took my 110 in and after a fairly long test drive (maybe he liked driving her as much as I do……?) and a lift up the hoist, she passed with no issues.
I then told them about my experience the previous day, to which he replied, ‘yeah, I saw that when I drove it but the light went off at under 10km/h, plus, there’s no doubt the ABS functions fine, I tested it 3 times!
It came up on the rego check from yesterday but I googled ABS light defender and seems it’s a factory thing, so all good.’
Practical interpretation; easy
I gave the other blokes a chance to redeem themselves but no further correspondence from them. So, after 10 years of good service from one bloke in the partnership, the other partner has chosen to stand by his hot headed fool comments 3x - 3 strikes, you’re out…..
No need to mention names here but I’ll not be back and won’t be recommending them anymore.

Now onto my next question about wheel spacers……
It sounds like one of those 'little bit of power' things, he probably has no other outlets for his need to be in charge.
A few years ago now when I lived near Nowra. They failed it for the same reason.
Anyway I then took it to Graeme Cooper in Sydney, they serviced my car and then did a vehicle inspection, no problems.
My long term solution to this was annual problem to move to South Australia. No vehicle inspections here. Not sure why.
