just a suggestion......

while boats are usually launched by submerging the trailer canoes are light enough to be manhandled to the water, you dont need to deep ford the landy to get them floated.



while lots of parts will interchange into a D2 anythign that bolts onto the body/chassis of a deefer wont directly fit, from memory the diff centers should swap over but you'll have to retap the airlines in the disco casing.

the springs from memory are the same diameter but will be the wrong rates for the D2 (most likely)

The Defenders front airlocker should just go across to the Disco and can be used front or rear - just change the pinion flange to suit if you're using it in the Discos rear. No need to swap over the locker unit itself, swap over the entire diff assembly, just pull it all out of the axle housing and put it into the Disco axle housing. Defender rear axle housings or diffs wont fit into a Disco2, not even the P38 type - they literally dont fit into the hole.

Defender springs are different to Disco2 both front and rear. Defender rear springs being bigger just wont work. Fronts can be made to work with a different lower spring perch as the Defender lower is ground and the D2 lower is pigtailed, but really you're better off just getting Disco2 springs which are the correct spring rate and free lengths.

The Tom Woods front shaft should fit. If it was built for a Defender then you will need to swap the front transfer case output flange over, if it is a Disco2 shaft in a Defender, then it should just bolt straight in. Never the less, you will have all of the parts options between the 2 vehicles.

You're right, a D2 isn't a 110. It's better.

What do you mean 'only a disco' discos are just as amazing as defenders

The only thing I don't like about the Disco 2 is they're at least 20 years old, but probably the only Disco I'd seriously consider swapping the Defender for.

Still miss mine. Great touring vehicle.

I was asked when am I going to replace mine... I'm not. There isn't anything on the market like it. The closest is the 79, but no auto, no real cup holders, steel door trims, vinyl floors, no climate control, leaf springs, ordinary seats... its still not there.

Too many good times with the Disco as well.
