What cools down quicker? IAT or EGT?

Realistically both will I guess as one feeds the other.

The Ultragauge only does coolant temp but that drops quite quickly after a hill climb etc. It always came down pretty quickly but noticeably quicker now.

Was a pretty smooth process even for a complete amateur like me. The elbow into the throttle is a bugger to get at, I went for the unbolt the water pump approach but you still need long arms. I also needed to add a couple of washers to the spacer BAS provided for keeping the IC and air con condenser separated (cardboard in the pic is keeping them from rubbing until that went in).

Unfortunately my not so great economy issue is still there so back to the drawing board on that front.

The only way to compare intercoolers after upgrading is monitor charge air temps, and EGts,charge air being air into engine after intercooler.
    Obviously in similar conditions.
I find high EGTs,and increased charge air temps make bugga all difference to coolant temps, even in very high ambients,up around 40 degrees.
I suppose this depends on how good and what condition the engine cooling system is in.

Our vehicle is a different brand, and i monitor these and other parameters on an Ultraguage.

What some large upgraded intercoolers do is restrict airflow over the radiator, which is not ideal.

Going into winter, Pete said ok to put the 165hp tune on up from the City Tune. Standard IC still. It certainly made the exhaust a little throatier and if I drive it like I stole it the CHT can get to 226F. Lift the foot and it comes right down. Normally is 212~216f still so no change.

I’ll go back to the City Tune until I can afford the BAS IC upgrade.
