    As a precaution

The bonnet pull cable on the Defender can break. You can access the cable at the mechanism by inserted your fingers under the bonnet, looping them around the cable at the mechanism and pulling it forward. It will pop the bonnet. As a precaution you can loop a cable tie around the cable at the mechanism and let it hang down behind the grill. If your cable breaks you can simple pull the cable tie and it will open the bonnet. You can use the cable tie instead of replacing the bonnet cable if you like. Happened to me.

Or you can do away with the cable altogether and install a Perentie one! Just a lever mounted through the grill on the drivers side. Much easier

Not as easy access with the Puma but the above works well for pre Puma Defenders.

A 4 - 5mm length of steel rod with a 30mm slightly more than a right angle bend on one end will fit between the bonnet and the slam panel. pull sideways towards the drivers side on the latch arm that the cable is attached.

    works all all defender models
