I have a box connected to my vent line on my 1998 Defender 300tdi. Does anyone know what this is and what it is for? It is an AU 110 that was brought over to the U.S. in 2024.
Looks like the vent pipe from the fuel tank to the fuel filler neck has been cut and maybe a home made "venting box" has been inserted in the vent pipe.
Only thing I can think of is the previous owner was trying to prevent blow back when refueling and approaching full tank.
Yes looks like a home-made modification to the fuel neck breather. Does it have a non-original fuel tank (long range tank)? Or a non-standard body configuration that causes the fuel filler to be a bit awkward? This contraption might have made it easier to fill without the bowser repeatedly shutting off.
