    MT82 front bearing

I've got a noisy gearbox input bearing. Annoying after only about 40k on a reco box. Does anyone know if this bearing can be replaced from the bell-housing without a full dismantle of the gearbox?

Did you have any success with this? I’ve got a similar tick-tick-tick developing and getting louder. Was hoping it’s just my bad installation of the pilot bearing when I did the clutch (I may have stupidly greased it being a novice) but input shaft bearing is a likely candidate too I guess.

So far I have sucessfully ignored it.
The source is easy enough to diagnose, just think about what's happening as you work the clutch; foot off pedal in neutral- spigot bearing not functioning, thrust bearing not functioning, front gearbox bearing spinning. foot lightly on clutch- thrust bearing now spinning, front gearbox bearing still spinning, spigot not spinning. Fully depress clutch and engage a gear- spigot and thrust bearings now active, front gearbox bearing stops.

Yep sounds like input shaft then in my case too. I was subconsciously hoping it was the easier spigot/pilot bearing... but think you're right.

Was your recon your own MT82 rebuilt or a swap for reconned one?

Mine was purchased outright imported from the UK. Annoyingly I sold the original one not long ago, could have investigated the difficulty of replacing the front bearing if I still had it.
