Why the hell would you want to replace something simple, reliable and easy to diagnose with one of those devils spawn? I can see exactly zero benefit from an EPB in a vehicle that already has a functioning mechanical park brake.
To be fair, as far as I can see the only advantage in the D3 is the interaction with the ABS where if you are moving faster than walking pace pulling the EPB switch will make the car do an emergency stop before applying the brake. The only time I can foresee that being useful is if the booster or master cylinder fails.
