Thanks Pete, Na all the steering gear on my car is the original stuff just repainted yellow to look a bit more snazzy I also did the trailing and radius arms as well as the brake shields which I think looks pretty good..

I've got quite a lot planed for it but a lack of funds at the moment is a problem I'm doing every thing mechanical first, I've done most of the the stuff that has needed to be done so am now doing the things that are not urgent but are better to be done before something blows up! Just general maintenance things really, I think the last owner was a bit frugal with that side of things

And after doing that I've got a whole heap of bar work that I want to make up for it so that will be fun, I am actually looking forward to doing it

No mate the Def with all the mud is my brothers rig, my Dad wouldn't dream of getting his one that dirty!! Don't blame him really, it takes a heck of a long time to wash properly!!!

    Outback's new (old) Defender

    Hi all,

I finally got a Defender, I bought it a couple of weeks ago but only got it home this morning. I only have one photo as yet (and its not very good), but I will take some more over the weekend.

    Defender.jpg

The owner told me that it has a Landrover Diff lock that works when it is in low range, can enyone tell me if something like this exists. Not sure if the owner new much about landrovers as he also told me it has an Isuzu motor ( it has a 200td).

It is not without its problems as the gearbox sounds terminal an the clutch has some issues. But the best bit was the price , I picked it up for $1000. I couldn't get the money to him fast enough, after missing out on two other Landrovers because the owner changed there mind.

Anyway its Friday and it time for a beer or ten

    Cheers Jeff

The lack of an air inlet on the driver's side makes it most likely a 200Tdi (rather than 300). Re the diff lock he is probably referring to the centre diff common to all 90/110/130, which is lockable in high and low range. At $1000 you just got the bargain of the century, although it sounds like that gearbox needs some money spent on it.
