I think your rack looks great...

Here is mine - it was $220 second hand so can't complain. Just noticed the dog blinked as i took that photo

The Defender sticker is a genuine LR off E-Bay... I feel like a Defender owner now.

    Hi Tikka,

Love the sticker! I've been procrastinating for a while now on whether I should get one as it permanently looks like something is missing off the flat section...

Word of advice on that roof rack (OEM or similar) is that as it assembles with slide in sections like tent poles, it does let in a bit of water. I would give each section a good dose of cavity wax (Tectyl 506 or similar from the motor factors) and then reassemble the works.

    Cheers,

    Lou

Get the sticker is my advice. The simplest, cheapest upgrade and most rewarding so far.

Yes good tip on the roof rack. I got it onto the roof by myself with a fractured collarbone (rugby) now devising scheme for easy removal and fitting.

Hi Matt (frantic) - still waiting on a reply from the supplier. we were both talking to the same mob. I'll chase them up again. Funny - they email me constantly, I ask for a price and they're silent.
    cheers Gerald

    My 85 110.

Had the vehicle for about 6 years now. Made all the usual mods like front and rear MD lockers, sliders, bar, winch, wheel carrier etc etc. Fitted later model 3.9 V8 and thermo fans, 2.5 inch exhaust and a few other things.

Uses heaps of fuel but who cares. I don't go too far these days. Occasional mud run's and high country trips is about it.

Converted back to vent flaps which is an absolute must do on these early airconditioned 110's IMHO. Fitted Defender heater etc in place of the massive air con lump.

Has probably been the best Land Rover I've owned and I've had a few now.

    Cheers

    Mick

Mantec made them for the Camel Trophy (in steel) and for the G4 Challenge (in plastic and steel) as per the link.

Mantec | Quality Land Rover Accessories

I agree with you though it does create the "classic" Defender look. Anyone keen on the Camel Trophy look (for us older enthusiast...) or the G4 look for those who've followed the brand faithfully over the more recent years, won't go wrong by fitting Mantec gear to their vehicles.

I've just replaced my steering guard with the Mantec one ($280 delivered to my door from Devon 4x4) and while not looking half as aggressive, the understated functionality is unmatched...

    Cheers,

    Lou
