It's my destiny to be there this weekend actually...
I grew up going up there for holidays. Dad would drive his company car around the property like he worked for the forestry folks. The property is just off Back Creek Rd.

We did some drives today that we never attempted in my 40 years of going there. This beast just goes, and once I was confident in it, it was just as capable in high range. With the beautiful weather today, it was a wonderful outing.

two years ago I was struggling... silver or dark green (galway green)... went Galway Green in the end and have not regretted it at all. It is a beautiful colour in all kinds of different light...

This pic when it was new... before I started giving it jungle "pinstripes".

It is actually a very good manual for kids to learn - let the clutch out slowly and don't worry about the throttle, these things take care of everything.
What tyres are you running on yours?
And your absolutely right about the choice of car to learn in. Wish I'd had mine when I was teaching our girl to drive.

GY Wrangler MTRs. Actually worked quite well today.

It was great teaching a kid to drive in a vehicle which has an engine that does all the work. When I was driving down the steeps in L1/2 I was explaining how to let the engine do the work - that's what these trucks are designed to do - so when it was his turn to drive, he trusted the truck to keep the momentum going. Hence he was driving downhill without much brake and then through decent puddles on his first drive - exciting for a boy!

[Note to naysayers: I'm well aware a learner needs to know how to use a brake and that very few cars have a throttle that doesn't need touching to get good momentum. However this is a great starting point.]

    Hi Tact,
I have been after a pic of a Defender with side steps for a couple of weeks as I cant decide if I should go the rock slider or side steps. Sorry for the off topic, PM me if you like, I would love your input on the topic. Basically I dont want to ruin the new leather seats in my new Puma by sliding in and out so I want some sort of step.
    Chris
