They're the Land Rover factory side runners. I don't think they'd offer up much resistance as rock sliders. I think they'd dent and bend a bit to be honest.

Yeah mine on the Keswick green D90 are factory side steps. And to be honest they don't even do that job very well. They don't stick out very far and it's easy to slip off as you don't get much of a foot hold onto them. For everyday use I'd say the folding steps would be more useful.
