						Hi disco75,
I have tried to buy those tyres here in Sydney and have been told that the Michelin XZL 7.50 x 16 4x4 are no longer imported. They are a very good tyre. Have you managed to buy these recently?

yes bought 7 no probs last week. It depends how much your tyre guy cares. The only tyre I will use is Michelin on anything. Still looking for some for my wifes washing trolly.
Thanks D75 I appreciate the effort of dealing with these bloody computers !

Disco79 is that Tony Curry tyres Morningside. How much were the Michelin XZLs 4x4, what is "O/r's", are they tubless? Are they standard 7.50 x 16 tyre height, they look a bit taller than normal.
thanks

Yes. Tony has looked after me for ages. Tubeless, original fitment tyre on 130's and option for wagons. $345 each. Not cheap but nothing good is. And they are made in France, not Thailand. I believe your a local, I have seen your car around and at FWD when it was nearly finished and the gearbox in my wagon locked up.
forgot something. O/R means off road but are dot legalin australia and north america. with michelin the x stands for radial, z for all position(as in trucks, they have steer, drive and trailer tyres) and L is tyre description. They are a three bar tread. In the UK you can get them in four bar up to some big sizes. The pattern changes over 16 inch to what you'll see on the army mogs. With Michelin the tyres are larger for a nominated size than other brands because of they differnt way they measure the tyres. Michelin base the sizing on the measurements of the carcase and the tread is extra, others measure the tread as well. so for say a 265 section tyre if the tread goes down the sidewall it is included in the sizing so you end up with a skinnier tyre for that size. In the old days replacing 7.50 x 16 with 31 x 10.5r 15 you ended up with a much smaller rolling radius putting your speedo out, with the michies the difference is much less. Don't get me started on tyre pressures or touching my car with a rattle gun.
FWIW, the XZL's I had were quite a bit smaller in diameter than some 235/85/16 Bridgestone MT's I had with similar tread wear.
