Is that roof rack the 2.0m aluminium one from OL?
Also how do you find the O/L spare wheel carrier? I have one on my '94 Defender and I find that its either to tight and you cant open the door, or its to loose and it rattles over the corrigations.

G'day Craig - yes, roof rack is the OL 2.0m aluminium one - I find the spare wheel carrier fine - when I first got it the door was stiff to open - so I applied some Prolink bicycle lube to the horizontal piston and the hinges, including the Defender's hinges - so now it opens sweetly and doesn't rattle.

It was the easier cruising, slightly lighter clutch and gear change and better A/C that got my wife keen. When we went for a test drive I told her that her job was to make me keep my chequebook in my pocket. That failed miserably and by the time we got back to the dealership she was doing the maths and trying to convince me that it was a sensible time to trade up!

I'm not even gettting one and think i've looked at the colour chart a thousand times and gone ..oh yeh i'd get that nah nah maybe that one..

I've done a comprehensive stereo upgrade.
I've also trimmed the rear with rubber matting throughout and foam backing. Got a fire extinguisher to fit too.

The next thing is a UHF, bullbar & snorkel.

And that should do me.

The Adelaide dealer has a "red" demo and it doesn't look right to me. It is a kind of maroon type of red. Still, he's had 3 or 4 people who want to buy it so it must be someone's cup of tea......

My nephew is toying with the idea of ditching the hilux and buying a fender. We just went for a good drive and he was very impressed with mine. I think he'll be lining for a test drive soon

The first thing he noticed was the noise which we all know is better in the new ones with the extra gear and the new motor. He was also impressed with the vents though, which of course have gone from the new one.
