    County Vent conversion

Has anyone seen or done a conversion fitting windscreen vents to an 86 county. The vents in my firewall haven't been cut out and covered over with a blanking plate like the 85 county, it's just solid. This means I'll have to cut out the holes and therefore won't have a lip around the inside. I'm guessing the lip provides strength and stops water ingress when the vent lid is closed. Does the lip really need to be there? Opinions? Options?

This is what I did on an 85 110. I would use a Defender dash next time round though.....looks better than the series one I reckon. Also I would weld the flap brackets onto the firewall rather than pop rivet them on.

    Hope it helps.
    Cheers
