    130 ELECTRICS?????

    Hi all,
Just having the usal crappy fight with defender electrics,(Jesus is this a fire waiting to happen or what) has anybody out there had fuses blow on the left hand indicator intermitantly, which in turn drops out the temp & fuel gauges.

    Cheers Bob

Absolutly, mines a 2000 model and i had to get mine rewired last year and now it's at the auto elec's again still blowing fuses but this time on the guages only.
From what i'm told it's where the wiring runs into the chassis, it wares out and shorts, apparently it's a common problem. How many k's has yours done?

yup! mine's a 2000 model and has done 300k now, and most of my electrical problems all started at about 250k. If i buy another 130 sort of 01 to 03 model then i might just get it re wired straight away. what year is yours?

Same thing happens on my 11/98 build.

The loom chafes where it goes through the chassis rails.

I also had the LHS parkers/tail light shorting out, turned out to be one of the screws in the number plate light being a touch too long and shorting on one of the terminals.

Its the right hand side for me. But only when I tow it blows. Dosent matter what or whos trailer I pull, as soon as I turn on the parkers they go. Every thing else brakes, indacator fine.
