Hi Dullbird, I have to be practically standing on my defender to get the central locking to work. Lock/unlock range is probably 5 meters at best.

mmmmmmmmmm so i'm not the only one then.......i might as well unlock it with the key you have to be so close

i was hoping that it might of been faulty as today for some reasson the blipper wouldn't lock the car and i was right next to the door lock with the remote...in the end i gave up and locked it with the key, after opening it again it then happily locked with the blipper after that.......

This has happened to me a few times, (refusing to lock/unlock), I have found that the remote works better in my left hand though........

I'm getting all kinds of confused visions happening Seriously, a mate's old BMW remote would only work if he aimed it through his cheek with his mouth open.

The remote distance is not great on the Td5 either. Ours doesn't work much further than about 1 1/2 metres.

We had the car in for warranty the other day and mentioned this to the service bloke. They evidently extended the pickup aerial somehow and it remains to be seen whether this has improved the distance or not.

I have mentioned this on another thread and it is cetainly one for Mythbusters but... my remote works much better when I hold it against my temple.

Without - I need to be right next to the car and hold it above window sill height. Occasionally (like today) it refuses to work AT ALL and I dance around the car like an idiot pressing the button waving the f***ing thing up in the air.

Against my head - I can be standing inside the house about 6m away.

    Go figure.

why do we do that......why do we dance around for half our pressing it up against the drivers door window. Why dont we just use the key..
