    Defender TD5 RPM

Ok guys all those out there with tachos or Nanocoms what revs are your Fenders running at?
On Nanocom mine is running 2550rpm approx at 100kph in 5th and 2750rpm at 110kph in 5th give or take.
Seems a little on the high side to me. I know Graz had mentioned similar concerns. At least possibly explains to me why I have never been anywhere near 10 litre per 100kms at 100-110kph fuel consumption.

Sounds like same as mine, but will give it a run after work and post accurate readings - it does rev a bit high, or so it feels, like you need another gear at 110

ps. what size tyres do you have? i'm on 265/75's now but will go 255/85 next time

'99 'fender - it goes... (quite well actually!)

First up as LandyAndy suggested, going to try larger dia tyres.
The speedo over reads by approx 8 kph @ 100, according to my GPS, so a bit to play with.

Other two options are a bolt on overdrive ( $3500 ) or Disco high range gears ($650).

Hi I have only had mine for a few days but on the trip home from picking it up [500ks] It was sitting a fraction over 3000 rpm at 110 going off the GPS as the speedo was reading about 118kph. So yeah about 8ks out. Not sure what rpm it was doing at the speedos 110 but would not have been far under 3000rpm. Interesting mine seems to sit higher.

    Cheers Jim

I have 235 85 R16s How does that relate to rolling diamater? Also what is the standard size?

havnt tried it with the nonocom yet, but your figuers are within 100rpm of my vdo tacho. im on 285 75 R16's. my average fuel is 13/100, driving normaly....for me....not trying to get better fuel figuers.
towing a car trailer and old holden full of gear (2500t) from dorrigo to sydney via glouster (750-800k's) i used 15.5/100 sitting on 110kph.
    dont think thats to bad

i also have the big intercooler, chip and exhaust etc etc

    cheers phil
