Thread: tachometer on defender

Lots of people in the UK were doing it and there were lots of ads on ebay for after market Smith's 50mm tacho's suitable for Defender a couple of years ago.

It can be run off the alternator just like those on the TD5 and the first of the Phase II Range Rover classic V8s

dont worrie about hooking it up to the alt on a TD5, the pin/wiring is already sitting at the back of the ecu to use.
think its pin 19.
google it.
there should be somethin on here, maybe in the projects/tut's section.

wow you really are the pin man aren't yeh if theres a pin to know about you seem to know about it!!

just please triso dont hook it up to any nipples......lol

Tacho fitment to Defender

and the vdo tach is cheaper than the LR one. both are almost identical just the LR one says TD5.

i'm not sure i understand but are you talking about a td5 fender
mine is a 97 model, could you hook it up to the alt on a 300tdi?

YEAH! still applicable, you just have to upgrade to a TD5 defender
