    Defender engine types

What year did the 200TDi, 300TDi and TD5 start and finish?

I'm looking for a defender to replace my rusty troopy - only want to spend around $10k. Any advice, e.g. should I choose a 300 over 200, etc?

he means they are no longer available new....

    urmmm
they are if you look hard enough... but they're getting pretty rare, it seems to be easier to get a series head than a tdi200...

as the cost of rebuilding the head is not the cheapest thing to do IMHO it seems to be that if you toasted your tdi200 you dropped in a tdi300....

the 2 are all but identical as far as the engine bay is concerned for doing a swapsies but the tdi300 is a technically better engine.

its not the same scale of better as you get when you compare a td5 to a tdi300
