My general rule when buying anything is to never by version 1. Always buy after there has been a reasonable time on the market.

I agree with the others and I think this is evident so far in my 08MY Defender, most things are fixed up already and it should be even better in the 09MY build. Definitely check the VIN and if its a 7A then its been sitting around for sometime, in which case I'd want a fair bit off the price and make sure all service bulletins and recalls have been done.

It's just that since January 2008, they've all been 2008 models through here (Parra). Check the VIN to be sure.

Interesting in that the Salesman told me it was the first 09 in Australia. Ordered in March built in May and delivered in in late July

Not that it makes a huge difference to me.
