						Hi,
Has anyone fitted an ignition kill switch?
What I know about electrics you could write on the back of a stamp so any info needs to be pretty basic.
I wanted the switch to be standard Landy and probably mounted on the same panel as the hazzard switch (on a 95 model). I figure that if it was say a standard light switch it would be less obvious to a potential bad person. That is to say, they might head to a none standard looking switch first when it wouldnt start.
Any ideas?

maybe not this one, it's extortionate! but similar should be available from any truck/earthmoving supplier.
want to make it more difficult? stick one on the brake line and fuel line too.... (not completely legal I'm sure!)
I would hide the kill switch inside the glove box, under the seat, behind the steering column. But somewhere that it isn't too obvious if someone is watching you when you disable it.
Had an intersting kill switch in England, if you didn't disable the switch it would cut the engine when you first put the brakes on. Gives you enough time to go and get something large and wooden and then beat seven shades of you know what out of them.
If they break in and can't start in right away chances are they will wreck the interior, less chance of that if they're in the middle of a junction going nowhere...

						I fitted a heavy duty battery switch (one of the ones with the red plastic removable key). Simple to fit. Just cut the main positive battery cable and swage some lugs on each cut end to fit the terminals on the switch. I mounted the switch through the battery box on the passenger side. Just take the key with you when you leave the car in a dodgy spot. Could be bypassed by a smart theif but it is not likely that they would bother hanging around to figure it out. Only problems with this arrangement are that you must mount the key somewhere it does not get knocked and switched off. You may also lose your radio station pre-sets unless you add a always on 12 v feed. And don't switch it off while the car is running as it may fry the diodes in your alternator.

						Thanks for the ideas. Luv the Mud clutch system but will probably go with Trouts keyed switch. Not perfect but only $17.90 and should slow em up enough that they go somewhere else.

						One way to have a hidden switch is to use a reed switch behind a steel panel some where. To enable the circuit place a small magnet on the panel at the reed switch position. To disable, move the magnet away from the reed switch.
Really simple one that Mahn suggested a loong time ago.
Leave the transfer case in neutral.
Hard to work out unless you know what you're doing, easy to do, costs nothing.
