    TD5 Defender exhaust

    Hi all

I have just fitted a custom made stainless water tank in the rear left corner of a TD5 Defender. The rear silencer is pretty close and difficult to get much of a gap (maybe 10mm). Has anyone removed this silencer - is the exhaust much louder - any suggestions?

    Erich.

Rear end silence tends to remove the higher "exhaust notes", the centre the deeper ones.

Removing the silencer shouldnt be a problem.

I run a straight through front and centre pipe, leaving the only silencer in the back section. Its a bit noisier when its pulling hard, but appart from that its fine.
    Regards,
    Jon

im with jon also, ive run the 90 with out all mufflers, way to loud.... i have just the rear one fitted to a 3'' system. if this is still to noisy for you fit a hot dog type like rangie man said, they are a smaller diameter than the OE muffler and they come in 8'' 10'' and 12'' lengths.

Is it a 110 or a 130? The 130's have longer exhaust pipes (obviously) and are pretty reasonable with just a single muffler. More pipe to soak up the noise probably.

From what DiscoWhite says a 90 is too loud so maybe that's simply because its exhaust is much shorter.

erich's is a 110, but your right, hiline's 130td5 sounds ssswwweeeettt minus the mufflers, but the 90 barks and really sounds crap under load
