RMB3218, are you able to tell the "full story" yet as per a previous thread. Even though you are in discussion with LRA how would you documenting here the problems you've had prejudice these discussions ? I think it would benefit us greatly. As I notice your vehicle is still for sale what would you explain to a potential buyer of the vehicle ?

OH!! great, just what i need another leak.

One from main front crank seal and another just developed from park brake housing, i assume its probably the rear tranfer case seal?

Who said new landys don't leak oil?

Just as well I've removed the back seat, gives me enough room for the 20 litres of engine oil (@ $9.70 a litre) and now the gear oil i have to carry around.

Mine so far doesn't seem to have suffered from this. I spent a bit of time looking around dullbird and muddymech's yesterday and I don't recall theirs showing any signs of rubbing either. They should pick up this thread in the next few days, but I'll let them know when I hear from them.

It would be interesting to get one of those little endoscope-camera thingies to see just how much clearance is in there with the bonnet closed. They must have been some evil corrugations.

or you could go with the KISS principle and stick a piece of play dough or similar on the spot and close the bonnet, then see how much it squashes...

Actually after some thought I would take the vehicle to one of those drive-through X-ray machines that they are using for air cargo and ...

The thing is.... Although some of you might not have any rub yet - it will happen if you drive rough roads enough. The Gunbarrel we drove home over made the Gibb River road, the Alice to Finke Old Ghan road, the road into Chambers Pillar and others feel like hotmix. So it possibly needs to take a hammering before this problem will present itself. But sooner or later this problem will show itself unless you only drive on bitumen. According to LR, nothing has changed in terms of the brake master cylinder position in the 110 from the 07 to '08/09 models.

I'd be asking about prevention before you need the cure.

With any luck there will be a service bulletin before too long and we can add it to Dullbird's thread. Sure the brake booster assembly may be the same, but the whole bonnet is different, and made of steel now instead of ally if I read right (it's heavy enough) - and therein lies the problem I expect.

I meant the 07 bonnet (like yours) and the position of the BMC is the same as the 08/09 vehicles for those with new, new ones!
