How far do you drift in a RTC3511 seal

    Hi there,

Just wondering if anyone can help me out with how far to drift in the seal on the wheel hub.

The RTC3511 has a lip on it that you would think sits on top of the seal housing but I have read othere posts that suggest drifting it in further.

    Can anyone confirm please.

    Thanks

    John

Found it manually. Link still doesn't work for me. Not sure.

The 'lip' of the seal is to be flush with the hub.

My question is that the sides of the seal have a little exposed edge so it seems strange to drift it past the edge of the hub.

Wouldn't it squash the seal or is it to tighten the fit?

Re seated the seals today - running oiled bearings

    Hi all,

I had the fun job of re-doing what I did yesterday.

SWMBO was not a happy camper with me spending 1 1/2 days working on the car which could have been spent elsewhere especially if I had of done it right the first time.

Removed the drive flange, hub and fortunately I had only run around the block so the seal was fine.

It was definitely out too far and noticeable by where it was running. It had been pushed in further than I left it.

Used the flange with a large O'ring to get the right height and drove it in further.

Pretty sure it will be ok now. No oil anywhere as I converted to oiled bearings.

And it is so much easier working on oiled bearings!

Second time round was a lot faster too.

    Regards
    John
