Hi Lou,

Hope and sounds like you three had a great trip.

As for my knocking experience,

it was accompanied by the engine light coming on and a loss of power

 hence the sensors.

A persistant loud knocking when cold not accompanied by the engine light and loss of power suggests something else.

The clutch rattle is best diagnosed amongst other things by releasing the clutch with the engine running whilst in neutral. The quicker you release the clutch the louder the noise when the clutch engages. But it is a rattle as opposed to a knock.

Maybe we should compare rattles and knocks...you guys live nearby me so maybe we could exchange noises this weekend.

These little things are sent to test us.
