Jeez - mine doesn't have either of these issuesMine just puts holes in the brake master cylinder, wears away at the intercooler hose, breaks front ABS sensors, has headlights that stop working, comes with holes in the underside of the seat boxes, has rear sliding windows that jam..... Where am I going wrong?

in all fairness to the car i think it must just be sydney!!!
we have just driven eleven and a half thousand kilometers without a hicup the car ran like a dream other than the last 2 days when we hit the cooler climate of victoria the engine rattle returned...
the car broke down the day before we were supposed to go and we decided to take it anyway...and the car has effectively broken down the day we got back![]()

I am sure it will be worth it in the end!
You are basically just geting the 'new model' issues that they missed prior to launch. Some are maybe more frustrating than others but I am sure they will get solved.
You have just got work through them like they did with the early Tdi issues, and then the early Td5 ones.

I have a semi educated guess as to what it might be....
If its what Im thinking I would be very very glad that its happened under warrenty and hope that the engineer the problem out before your warrenty runs out and that they give you a new engine......
we had a detroit come in doing it next door just before it detonated an injector......
I think it might be the equivelent to either a vapor lock in the system caused by the temperature changes "pumping" air past a seal and letting the air get into the rail, which then doesnt purge so you dont get full injector feed pressure on every shot. Sort of like an advanced form of air in the brakes. you take a few pumps and it gets pressure but then when you back off a little the brakes go spongey again. thats the good version as its usually just a case of new seals to fix it.
IF its injector blow by (which is the failure method of the td5 injectors that Im most afraid of) your going to be getting combustion gasses coming back past the injector nozzle. it'll do the same thing as above but its a lot harsher and will very quickly take out other parts of the fuel system. Initially this will only happen at idle and when its cold as the extra pressure needed to work the injector above idle will normally allow the injector to "snap" closed better. As it gets worse it will happen more frequently and then start to happen under light loads untill eventually the injectors just give up the fight and turn into ports instead of injectors.
