    headlight surrounds

    had to remove them the other weekend to wire up headlight and spotties

    those dumb little plastic captive nut things along with thw both that is plastic coated were all seized

    managed to save three

    what to replace the other five with, original???? or is there a better idea?

    I'm a little confused

    Do you mean the white square plastic things the screws go into? If so they are replaceable from any autoparts shop.

    or

    Do you mean the stupid black plastic sleaved nuts that the black plastic tipped bolts screw into as part of the head light covers on the Defender? If so replace the bolts with stainless ones and the captive nuts inside with the white plastic bits mentioned above. I had to butcher mine to get the headlight covers off my Tdi Defender and replaced them this way.

    I have not had the problem, but I would be inclined to use the originals.
