Well, today finished the latest 110 200Tdi, the one I recovered on Sunday with the broken clutch centre. I am in heaven after driving ANOTHER shining example New heavy duty 130 spec clutch, fork, spigot bushing, park brake shoes, tappets and boost/ fuelling upgrade done.
It pulls well, is quiet and tight to drive with Bilsteins on, and after 285K is in exceptional nick.
    Love it!

    What's a P gasket?

JC, I love your enthusiasm. If you were anywhere near me you'd get my business.

Thats the gasket between the water pump housing and the block face on a 300Tdi. It is a common site for water leaks, and it is called that for its shape, sort of like the letter 'p' lying horizontally.

Enthusiasm? Is there any other way to own/ drive and repair landies???

Yeah, interesting. I've had three 300s and I've never had one of those leak.

My old mans 130 300Tdi has it, so did my old Defender

I was told its not urgent, just keep the coolant up to it. As they are expensive to be fixed (having to pull the front of the motor off?

Dunno if this is right? (Ill stand corrected)

    Thanks

If the front case coolant gasket on a 200Tdi leaks, yes it is a major job. 300Tdi p gasket job about 1 hour and small change for the gasket. (1 hr includes flush cooling system and new coolant etc etc.)

    Digging up old post.....

Nice to see people still or did like the 200TDI.......

Just brought mine and it has it share of problems, but getting through them slowly.

Latest ones to pop up are running a tad hot and seems the brakes are not working like they should... The rear in particular dont seem to work.

Mine has done about 350k kms. Dont know its history.
