    Defender Xtreme Bullbar Lights

Can someone tell me if the lights in the bullbar on an Xtreme are a Land Rover product, or are they an ARB product, or something else. I believe the bullbar came as standard equipment on the Xtreme.
As you can see, I need new lenses for them and I'm just wondering where to source them.

    Cheers, Murray

They're a 'Rinder' brand but no longer available through LR (original part # HYM1176).

    Here's the other recent thread:

Have you tried your nearest LR dealer? If they say they are not available, I strongly recommend that you do the following:

    1. Remind them that these lights are a roadworthy item.
    2. Point out that they were part of the vehicle as it was supplied as new, and that it's got their name on it!
    3. Remind them that parts are supposed to be available for 10 years after purchase.
    4. Threaten to report them to the Dpt. of Consumer affairs in your state.
    5. Point out that it is hardly reasonable for LRA to expect you to replace your whole bullbar, in order to rectify a broken lens.

If enough people complain, then LRA will have to find an alternative source of supply. Let us know how you get on.

    Cheers,

Thanks Lionel, but I gave up dealing with the local LR dealer long ago. One time I asked their parts department to look up a flywheel housing for, and I quote, "a 1988 110 County fitted with the 3.9 litre Isuzu diesel"......now I coulddn't be any clearer than that could I ? They promptly gave me a price on the part which I was quite happy with. It turns out that the part they quoted on was for a 3.9 litre V8 Petrol Discovery. They barely even knew what a County was.

Go ask your nearest auto elec, a mate picked up a set of LED replacement lights the same size as the ones in his arb bar, I think they where Narva.

Jeez! It might be better to give MLR/ULR (03 9684 1000/03 9864 3555) a call. Also Ritters (03 9834 3535) at Burwood might give more info.

I just had to talk to the service guy at MLR on another matter, & I asked him about these lenses. Apparently LRA will be sourcing them from another supplier, as they understand their status as a roadworthy item.

There could be supply problems for a while longer, apparently. Very much "luck of the draw" at the moment.

    Cheers,

    Lionel

The ARB ones are a different size. My enquiries to MLR/ULR have suggested that LRA will be making them available, if necessary via an alternative supplier. They ARE a roadworthy item, after all.

I decided to fit some ARB lights in place of the original one's. The cutouts in the bar needed to be made a bit bigger, but they are a better looking light, and if there's any supply issues with the originals, it overcomes that problem too.

    Looks good!

What happened to break the old ones? was it the same thing that pushed the number plate into the winch slot, but hasn't left any scratches?
    Just curious.
