						SubscriberHi All,
Saw the comment about the Rover type rear diff. I've read that it is in fact a P38A type diff which is the same as the Military wolf type, and is a proper 4 pin diff. It's supposed to be just a s strong as the Salisbury diff, but more compact.
Has anyone pulled one of these post 03 diffs out and had a look - Are they really 4 pin diffs?
I have a 2002 defender 130 (see pic) it has now done 255,000ks and it is only getting better every day
on the p38 diff.
if your a yank...
its a 6 pinion diff. it has 4 gears that drive the 2 side gears ie 6 pinion diff.
if your a pom
its a 4 pin diff, there are 4 gears pinned to the housing.
if your an aussie urm take your pick but you also get to call it a cross pin diff because the 2 pins make a cross in the center of the diff.
I call it a 2 pin diff there are 2 pins that run the diameter of the diff.
the original rover diff is
a 4 pinion diff to the yanks
a 2 pin diff to the poms
a single pin diff to me
peanut butter to anyone trying to push more than the basic 3.9v8s power output into it as a rear diff.

I'm missing something here Chris? What happened to your beloved Fender?
hahahahahahahahahahahahah
No, at least as far as the CWP goes, there is no comparison.
8.5" spiral bevel centre vs 10.25" hypoid....
FWIW, 130man on here has the beefiest Rover style rear end on his '01 ex-Telstra 130 I've seen, it has more gusetting and bracing than the harbour bridge
I'm guessing the Telstra utes must have been cracking Sals diffs, (axle tubes ??) so Rover Australia fitted heavily braced Rover housings.
Well got the new beast today what a wow factor, A couple of questions tho
The revs hanging on between gear change,s , does this have something to do with the wires going to the clutch master cyclinder i remember reading about disconnecting the wire,s
And also what do people do with the traction control when fitting Diff locks i have front and rear lockers to fit yet , Just wondering if the locker,s will upset the electrics
Pics will be up tomorrow , I know the forum
