Tdi 130 what to look for...

I am on the market for a Tdi 300 130 Defender and I would like to know which parts of the chassis I have to inspect for possible cracks or fatigue.
Any other advice will be appreciated
    Thank you
    Cheers

Thank you Justin, I am looking forward for the info.
I spotted THIS unit which is the kind of vehicle that I am after. Just add a roof rack and tent and i will not need the trailer any more.
If you find a 110 is Ok as well as long as is tdi 300 (or with the 3.9 isuzu )

You can come to Bundy, then we drive in the RR to Townsville to have a look.
If we have a deal then you can drive the RR back to Hobart by Perth

Now seriously, if I get a Defe here in Qld I will look into how much cost to send the RR to Hobart. I guess that has to be cheaper than drive all the way down.

If the 130 in Hobart is good than I will drive the RR down there and place it on the market.

    Hi JC & Chucaro,

for others of us who are interested it could be helpful (for us) if you would be kind enough to outline the types/locations of fatigue/structural problems that a purchaser would need look out for in a medium mileage 130 dualcab

    thanks in anticipation - Laurie

That it is a good idea Laurie, it will be good to use this thread on start a new one with inputs from all the experts and the 130 owners.

I read on the web long ago that it is possible to reinforce the chassis on the 130 among other improvements like double shocks at the back or an airbag to assist the coils.

    Any inputs will be appreciated.

    Cheers

Just inquiring why you have the need to renforce the chassis, double the shocks and add air bags. Unless your installing a stock crate on the back why stiffen up a already solid back end.

    They crack alright.
Mine has, and I have seen another.
They crack at the point where the chassis sweeps up just behind the cab. Its a nasty place to get at.

    Cheers
