Thread: Rim help!!!!!!

Those rims come in both tubed & tubeless flavors. The only proper way of telling is to look at the rim & the part number... (It should say if it's tubed or tubeless)

The long an the short of it is that you can run tubes on tubeless rims but you can't properly run tubeless on a tubed rim.

When you run with tubes, just make sure that the inner walls of the tyre are clean and have had all stickers (quality control type things) removed or these will cause the tube to fail.

I used to run tubes on my 130 and had numerous punctures at least one a month since removing the tubes not one puncture . that is high and low pressure I do a lot of beach driving, rocks etc.3times Coffs harbour once victoria high country and 3times sundowner ,straddies morton Fraser numerous times not one puncture.

As CL said. My LR mechanic refers to the tubeless rims as "Wolf" as these are the type fitted to the British Army's "Wolf" spec Defenders (properly called Defender XD). The rims we get on 130's (which appear identical with the slots) are tube types. The genuine LR tubeless ones are available here, but at a price. It is worth looking up Pro-Comp's USA made rims as they are similar style (size is 16"x7") around $100 rim

from my comparison of wolf rims and diso rims the band/center has the same diameter. These look to have the same diameter band/center. So it would seem possible to substitute 7" disco tubeless bands to these rims centres. 5.5 " rims have a smaller diameter center so disco bands cant be fitted.

I just bought 4 new 130 rims (tubeless) from rovacraft for $155 each...
