Thumbs up New Cargo Barrier for Puma

So I finally decided to order an genuine LR006447 from the UK after not being able to source any barriers in Aust...

It ended up costing 320 pounds from Duckworth Landrover including freight and arriver 12 days later.

It took an afternoon to install mainly because it didn't really fit, so I had to remove all the brackets and elongate a few holes, after that it was goood.

It comes in two separate pieces (upper and lower) and seems to be sturdy enough.

I am aware that it doesn't have an ADR, but its really only to keep the dogs off the new seats.

It looks "factory" which keeps my wife happy. she thinks that all my special homemade mods in the 300Tdi were dodgey... so because she was nice enough to let me buy the new one, I have to get "nice" stuff to put in it. that seems fair

Mine should arrive tomorrow. I'll let you know if I have the same issues with holes not lining up. Can you let me know which brackets were the main problems, was it the ones at the bottom or the top?

The brackets that are second from the bottom, that go on to the existing torx screws, needed the major adjustment... about 7-8mm each side.

the very top bracket just needed a few mm.

oh, the instructions say you only need a 13mm spanner, you also need a torx driver set, 10mm spanner, screwdrivers, and some other bits and pieces.

    Good luck

I'm not sure if it's the same but I think there might be one of these for sale at the moment on TradeMe in NZ. The reserve is listed at $400NZD. Check it out at: Defender Dog Guard for sale - TradeMe.co.nz - New Zealand. LR Item No: VUB 500 510 AD.

If you knew anyone near Martinborough they might be able to collect it and ship it to you. Certainly a whole lot cheaper than via the UK.

    Cheers, Iain.

    Thanks Craig,

I already knew about the torx and different sizes as I've downloaded the fitting instruction sheet. Vague as always! Be interesting to see how mine goes with tolerances, given what I've gone through today with the doors. Got to love a Defender, no other vehicle since the 1960's would have had such room for adjustments

    Here is the finished product...

Its a pretty good fit and it doesnt look to bad.

these are the brackets that needed modding. The holes in the cargo barrier were 1315mm apart, but the distance between the recieving holes were only 1300mm .

The soloution... File out these holes by about 7-8mm on each bracket to give the extra 15mm of adjustment....

    voila
