The pump is almost irrelevant in regards to the TPS, so long as it pumps up the the fuel pressure regulator, that all it has to do, also fuel is controlled, via TPS (throttle position sensor) MAF(Mass airflow) or MAP(Manifold absolute pressure) sensors, coolant temp sensor, sometimes O2 (not in this case), but the pump merely supplies a common rail, via a regulator

Thanks for the help mate.... all making a bit more sense now...

I picked up th engine today and just got it home in the garage.. Did a cold compresion test before i took hold of it and was reading 120psi on each pot..

Before i even touch my county, i'll replace all the gaskets and mabey have a good look inside it just to make sure nothing is gonna die on me after i do the swap... ( should be ok.. engine was an import from japan, only 119k on the clock)

Should i look at replacing the timing chain while its out or just leave it as is?

It came with the full wiring loom, and looks pretty simple except for a couple of wires and plugs which i'm not sure about... ( there right near the plug for the computer so i'm assuming it may be for dash lights etc etc for the disco it came off..????

    Cheers..

ps... bear with me guys, there might be a few more questions to come

Well, i couldn't wait till the end of march, so i just went hell for leather and did it

Last thursday afternoon, i got the old engine out.. all went pretty well, only took around 2hrs and a couple of naughty words.

Friday arv, put all new gaskets in the new engine and bolted up the power steering, alternator, pulleys, throwout bearing and exhaust manifolds.

Saturday morning, cleaned the engine bay out a little, drilled a hole in the firewall for the loom and dropped the donk in..

All i have left to do is try to figure out the wiring side of things and run fuel lines and fit the efi pump...

Here is a couple of pics along the way

Where did you source the engine from?
