    Battery Wiring Layout Question?

    Hi Guys,
Just putting the wiring back into the Defender after the firewall swap.
Can anybody please tell me the wiring layout for the battery cables in the tub under the passengers seat in my 2000 Defender.

    1. Does the red cable from the battery go through the front hole of the tub on it's path to the starter motor?

2.Which hole in the tube does the black cable go through on it's way to the chassis. Also where does the single earth wire(from the battery) go to and which hole in the tub does it go through? (Does this single earth wire travel to the computer in the drivers side tub and connect with another same size earth wire which is presently not connected anything ?

    3. P.S. Which way is the battery placed in the tub + or - towards the front of the vehicle.

Any help/ answers would be great.
    Cheers Ben.

Sorry I cant help you Benny...

But just a tip for future players of this sort of game..
A digital camera is GOLD in this sort of situation.
Before pulling something apart take LOTS of photos from all angles of wiring, pipes etc...

It can prevent endless frustration / confusion

    Any photos would be great.

As mentioned in the previous post a photo of both tubs (battery and computer) and a complete engine bay would save a lot of headaches. I would have done this prior however my Defender was mostly stripped by the previous owner.
    Cheers Ben.

ID take pics but mines not a standard setup due to the Dual battery setup I have.

my money says positive goes towards the front to make it easier for jump starting.

In my Defender (2004) the red (+ve) cable goes through a hole in the front of the passenger seat box, and the black earth lead (-ve) goes through a hole towards the rear, adjacent to the centre cubby box.

If you look at the passenger seat box from the front, the standard battery is mounted "North-South" with the red lead at the front terminal, and the earth at the back. The earth lead exits the battery box at the left rear, and the red at the front towards the left.

    Hoping this helps!

    Cheers,

    Lionel
