Rear recovery point on Puma with no towbar

Personally, I would just bite the bullet and fit a tow bar - I prefer the genuine one because you keep the rear step. Surely someone here has a spare lying around since they are the same fit as the Td5. A Defender without a towbar is a bit like a kitchen without the cook. You've got a lot of great equipment, but it just can't do anything by itself.

I have a recovery point that Scorpion do for the back of the Defender:

Planing on getting a towbar, but $100 for the recovery point is cheaper than $700 odd dollars a towbar costs...although as has been mentioned you still have the issue of it just pulling off the crossmember, though I haven't had any issues with it yet. Rovercraft sell them in AUS. Hope that helps.

Well that was my original intention, but several people here have warned that the bolt points may not be up to snatching.

Re Solmanic, and not getting a towbar, I've got towbars on the RR and the Disco and the 130, so don't need to have one on this one, but sadly I may have to just for the "recovery-ablilty" point.

Straight onto the standard rear cross member. There are 4 threaded bolt holes which look like a universal size to take a hitch like this.

Am I in danger of ripping out my rear cross-member (using a snatch strap recovery) if I just bolt one on without having a tow-bar assembly or any thing else back there?

ps. Scallops - if you read this, can you tell me if you had to drill your chassis to put on your front recovery hooks. I looked at my chassis, and I can't see where the bolts would go through....

I am going to get 2 hooks from ARB and bolt them straight to the chassis.

Looks like I have to drill some holes, which I am not too keen on doing.

Scallops has 2 on the front of his which he recommended, and I have a couple on my Disco, so am going with them again on the 110 as I don't have a bullbar on it.
