What Front Springs do i have?

    Hi all,

Following fitment of a TJM bar and a Winch (08 D110) the front end was sagging (as expected) so put the car into a well known LR specialist here in Brisbane (no names , thank you) with instructions to fit HD front springs (130 standard fronts).

When i collected the car looked ok (almost level between front and back) and thought it would settle a little after a few weeks. The front end seemed a bit too stiff so took a look at the colour codes.

Colour stripes as follows : Red Green Red & Green Green Red. Have searched the net i am unable to find out what springs/rating they are after looking through the available tables that come up.

Anybody heard of these colours and if so what are they supposed to be on.

The gap on the front between bump stops is almost 4" so could somebody please let me know what gap you have with 130fronts fitted (ie NRC9448/9449 please.

Thanks in advance for any information provided.

Hi Andy, I can't find any information on those colour combinations either. I fitted a ARB bumper and Warn 9.5xp to the front of my '08 Defender which caused the front to drop a bit. To level it back up I fitted Les Richmond Automotive Pink coded springs (180lb 15.9"), and with synthetic rope on the winch my bump stop clearance is about 92mm.

You will probably run into trouble with the prop angle if your bumpstop clearance exceeds 95mm, also LR are being ultra picky about aftermarket mods when it comes to warranty at the moment.

    Cheers,

    Tim

    Ummm...

Why don't you just go back and ask them for the specs?

I will take it back but was curious as to what they have fitted. It would make it a bit easier for me to argue the point if i knew what rating they had fitted compared to what i had asked for.

Thanks everyone for the information provided.

    Cheers

Dug out the paperwork and the Part nos. listed as follows : RKB500280/500290.

Anybody know what the codes relate to regarding spring rate?

    Thanks in advance.

According to the LR parts catalouge the:
RKB500280 is for a 2007+ Defender 3 Door SW standard rear spring
RKB500290 is for a 2007+ Defender 3 Door SW passenger side standard rear spring.

There is no other details for spring rates or lengths. I guess these are for a 90, as the 110 has larger diameter rear springs than the front.

I have NRC9448/9449 OEM HD's on the front of my 08 Puma. ARB bar, Warn XDC with synthetic rope and an aluminium hawse fairlead. The HD's put the front back up to where it was before the bar and winch went on and stiffened it up a little.

Don't know what you got fitted, but Tim seems to have found them.

    Andy,
Today I fitted a set of NRC9448/9449 to the front of a 130 with a 12,000lb winch and steel bar, the original springs had sagged so that there was only 35mm bumpstop clearance. After fitting the new ones, I now have almost 90mm clearnce. Ride quality with the DeCarbon shocks I also fitted is now as good as my RRC

1997 130 Tdi automatic with 12.5*33" tyres and the aforementioned winch and bar setup with scrub bars and side steps too.

Thats just the problem, if you asked for 130 HD fronts, then 9448/9449 is what you should've got. These are now a stock item on my shelf because I use them regularly. Perfect height and rate IMHO for winch and bar equipped 110/130's.
