    defender shockies

I havnt been on for a while so ill have 3 or 4 new threads today.
I have rebuilt engines, done clutches, replaced brakes etc etc but i have never replaced a shockie on a defender.
I am just looking for a few tips, tools needed and things to watch out for. is it an easy DIY job or better to send out?

It's an easy DIY job. Takes about an hour if everything comes undone easily. Just need a few spanners and something to hold the front shock whilst its undone from the tower (and tightened)

Cheers for that, is that an hour each or for all 4.
So i dont need any clamps or compression tools- just unbolt and replace.

I would say he means an hour for all four
If you've taken out, and re-fitted engines, g'box's etc before, it will be a walk in the park
The one thing i find a pain is trying to stop the shocks spinning when trying to undo
Usually pretty easy though. with the fronts on my d1 i just unbolted the bottam shock pin then undid the shock tower and pulled it out while the shock was still connected

Sorry meant an hour for all four. You are definitely best taking the whole shock tower out. I then use a pipe clamp on the shock to hold it. The tower attaches to the locating ring by 4 bolts and nyloc nuts. You'll probably have to replace the nuts.

Put some antisieze on the top and bottom pins of the front shocks when you fit them - makes life much easier next time you remove them.
