    Drove a Puma today

I finally talked the wife into looking at a new Defender, then going for a test drive. I was all excited before and she was completely disinterested, now I am not so keen but she is. Thinking do we spend a bit on the TDi or lay out the big bucks for a new one.

I can tell you this - the engines "feel" a whole lot different after they clock up some km's.

There's a lot of talk of mega issues with this truck - I've had none.

But you know - happy wife, happy life!

I wanted one, but wife likes the auto in the D2

If there was an auto version of the Defe she'd have gone for it and I think it would be a great wagon too.

Frankly, TDi is a great engine but it ain't new and won't get newer. It will keep costing more to keep it running. Puma is new and there are gazillions of the Transit engines about so parts will never be an issue.

Aaand. All engines have issues, it's just that the issues are different.

If you have the chance, go for it and see it running 20 years from now.

And when you're done, could I borrow the time machine?

A 110 wagon. Wifey saw the SVX and loved the Recaros and the carpet, but no new ones, only demo or s/h. I want a white one, did want a seven seater but now think a five, as we have had a five seater for ten years with no need for more, but had a ten seater before that.

It felt almost the same, just a little better, maybe not sixty grand better. A bit like the TDi did after the 2A ten years ago but not as different.

So not really disappointed, just financially cautious. I am in no real hurry.

You've got to be kidding! I think you need a longer test drive.
