    130 tub or tub parts

Does anyone know where one can get parts for a defender 130 tub?

I have a Defender 130 tub I want to make into a camper but want to extend the tub at the front so more balanced - might even widen so can put a bed sideways.

So when I extend the tub I have (to make into camper) I want the extensions to match the original tub profile - hence want to know if one can source the side panels anywhere.

    Any suggestions/comments welcome

They are getting harder to find these days. Occasionally they turn up on Ebay.

I found a couple in a custom body builder's rear yard which they wanted $300 each for. Complete rear trays but no lights. Should have bought them both!! Might be worth a few phone calls to people who convert utes etc near you.

You could also post up a "Wanted" advert in the Markets section here.

I know where there is one in sydney, but it has no lights and the bottom bolt on wings are bent. It has a few scratches too.
Pm me if you want further details

    Hi there

I would swap my rear tub anyday for an alloy tray.

Sounds like a similar idea I've got, except I was going to use a Series tub. Similar to this wonderful example:

Is it essential to use Defender tubs, or would Series suffice?

Ranga - nice trailer in the link
I am hoping to put kitchen in and then have a poptop with alloy roof - use proper scissor action lifts as per commercial poptops (from CAMEC).

Re Series tub and top - looked at that and MAY go that way yet BUT I have one 130 tub already. May yet use a series roof.

Idea is to have a very quick set up for weekend camps for two people - but capacity to expand for longer term camps. I already have a 22ft caravan (kids gone so no need for 6 berth) and a canvas pull up 4x4 camper - again larger than needed and takes a lot of set up.

For short term camping I wanted quick set up - this means pull out kitchen (already have made in alloy), mounted bed, room for porta loo (for missus at night etc), some clothes storage inside (so tidy), and a pull out awning (I have 3.6x2.5 m one) so couple of poles and done. Off side will provide for mounting a Oztrail 3 min quick erect rectangular tent as a ready made annex/extra bedroom etc.

We do competition 4x4 in a Rangie ute and go on GCLRO club camps so wanted to make this look landroverish and I already had the 130 tub I was going to make into a regular trailer. The extra tub I will cut so that can lengthen the normal tub - will also look more balanced to have similar amount of body front and rear of wheel arch.

Design not finalized yet. Will have water tanks, prob solar charger for battery power, mounted lights, gas on front, maybe even a gas water heater for shower/cooking.

    Any suggestions welcome

That was a great build up in the link. A lot of thought/work put in to that one.
