I bought a set of Custom Xtra Grips for the SIII, which I now use on the Defender for extreme 4WDing, and I get my road tyres 2nd hand. I try for 7.50x16 tyres all around for cross compatibility, it also means I can buy almost new 2nd hand tyres from someone whose bought a 70 Series Land Cruiser and wants to change to fat tyres.

Thanks guys helps to know what works for everyone, simple question but its worth asking. 1 is pretty much right as they'll be my off road set. so makes sence to get the tyre thats going to do the job really well even if it means spending more for now given that they will last many years.

Found in the Aug 4X4 Australia mag they have a list of tyres and prices, found that its a good guide but also helps to hear from the people that have used them.
