i'm guessing its a td5 being 99 model.....if its a 300tdi than the oil leak would be the vacumm pump..maybe
Hi all,
I have just inspected a 99 Defender wagon. Body in great condition, just a couple of minor fixits.
My question is it seems to have a oil leak from the tranfer case and 1 from the rear drivers side of engine. It was hard to see where it was exactly coming from. Are these oil leaks major work to fix.
Also air-con has packed it in. Has been re-gassed and hoses replaced recently but still isnt working. What would be a fair price to have replaced in the worst case situation.
They are asking $20500 for it. It has 171000kms on the clock.
Any advice would be great.
Mark..

Took the gamble with the slight oil leaks. Got the Defender for $18500. Pick it up tomorrow. Finally got my dream 4wd.....
Are you sure the leak from the rear drivers side of the engine is an oil leak? A common problem with a Td5 of that age is a fuel leak from the Fuel pressure regulator - might be worth checking.
