Dropping out transfer case and intermediate shaft

    Hey All

Looking at getting some 49% reduction gears. MR autmotive says they need me to send them the intermediate shaft so that they can match the gears correctly.

How hard is this to do in your own garage with conventional tools? Could I do it or am I biting off more than I can chew?

Anyone in Melbourne want to give me some help?

    Cheers

    Angus

I'd love to but probably cant get down. It'd be great to catch up again.

It should be pretty straight forward in getting it out though. I'm not sure if there are any real tricks with it except supporting the gearbox. I've never stripped an LT230 though. 110 Single cab would be excellent! Like you saw in Ian M's vids on D2Au and probably in your ride with Phil, the trays are great light weight bashers and 30%/49% really makes them work so well when offroad - its how they should have come.

Yeah I wasa impressed with it. Was going to get a Rangie for the V8, but I have always loved the look of tough defenders and the 300tdi is a good engine for doing longer trips into the high country.

Will post up some pics if I end up buying it.

Once the box is out, no special tools are needed to get the intermediate shaft out.
